Revelation Series: What’s in your hands?

There was a season in my life where I was lost, not sure of what to do with my life. I had grown up acting all my life, but still wasn’t getting the roles I wanted. I would get down to the very final say and it would go to someone else. I watched all of my friends around me do what I so badly wanted to do! Then a message from God came to me, he said, “look at what I’ve put in front of you”. At that time I was interning for a production company because I knew that’s eventually want I wanted to do. Since then I’ve gotten the opportunity to produce a video for the 100th Anniversary of the Rose Bowl, I have produced a hand full of music videos, and after 4 years in the making I have created and recently sold my very first TV show. All because the Lord told me to look at what was in my hands! Through this journey He has given me purpose, shown me who I am, what I’m good at, and what my heart longs for. These are all blessing and all answered prayers. He knows the desires of your heart, he may not give them to you right away, but He will in His timing!
And to top it off! In the last 3 years God gave me the one acting project I so passionately wanted to do. Answered prayer!

Noah waited 120 years for it to rain… What has God put in your hands?

Revelation Series: He will meet you in the Middle.

Ok, I’m about to be completely vulnerable right now – So, I’ve recently come out of a depression, the kind that lies beneath where you don’t even realize it. I felt numb to many things, even God. I didn’t understand why? But today I have been so overwhelmed with gratitude and blessings. God spoke so much truth into me this morning. He said “You have made it through”. I made it through the Jordan, to the other side! I never gave up my faith in God even through the trials and tribulations I have faced this last year, He met me in the middle. I’m telling you this because He will meet YOU in the middle of whatever circumstances you may be facing in your life today. Never give up your faith! God is so good and he will never leave you. He has purposely planted you for a purpose much bigger than yourself, even when you doubt yourself, God is working miracles in you. Something I’ve heard God say to me this week so clearly is that “God will use your rejection to help you find your purpose and set a catalyst to fulfill your destiny.” This is what I am experiencing today and I am so overwhelmed. I want to keep looking forward to what God has set before me and memorize not on the struggles and depression, but memorize on the MIRACLES God has done in my life. And to only point back to use those stones as stepping stones moving forward. – You too will make it through, never give up faith! God loves you! #HelloFromTheOtherSide.

Blessings! Sammy

Revelation Series: Nothing is impossible.

I spent some time in the sky in Lake Tahoe this weekend. I say that because the mountains met the clouds and there was a lake that sat in the midst of it all. My mind was blown and my breath was taken. As I was driving along side Emerald Bay near “Heavenly”, the place I was staying at, I found myself thinking “How is this possible?” How is it that there are huge mountains filled with huge trees that stand straight up in the air, surrounded by a huge body of water this high in the sky? I felt God press upon me “Nothing is impossible with me”. I was literally looking at Gods creation before my eyes. It was like God was saying these lyrics (that I later heard as I was driving down the hill which made it all click) – “Your ways are higher, Your thoughts are wilder, Faith makes a fool of what makes sense, but grace found my heart where logic ends.” In that split second nothing made sense to me, but this is grace, and all I know is that He was in this place. Here with me right now. – @hillsongunited – “Here Now (Madness)”

Revelation Series: Growth.

I drove across the U.S. for 6 days. Spent Labor day weekend with my family in Texas, spent the day at the Grand Canyon and went camping for the first time ever! Needless to say I had a lot of time to think. As I drove along the interstate I got to thinking about the trees and the plants that sat along the railroad tracks. How they are planted in the ground. How every time a train passes they would feel a sudden gust of wind. How the sun would disappear and the cold fronts would move in. How at any moment it would just start pouring rain. And then I thought wow! They have seasons of life just like we do. When you are planted in the word of God you will see that the trials and tribulations “seasons” are set up for your divine purpose. But, why would a good and loving God allow us to go through such things as disease and injury to ourselves and our loved ones, financial hardships, worry and fear? Surely, if He loves us, He would take all these things away from us? After all, doesn’t loving us mean He wants our lives to be easy and comfortable? Well, no, it doesn’t. The Bible clearly teaches that God loves those who are His children, and He “works all things together for good” for us (Romans 8:28). So that must mean that the trials and tribulations He allows in our lives are part of the working together of all things for good. Therefore, for the believer, all trials and tribulations must have a divine purpose. So, much like the trimming and grooming of a living plant. “As in all things”, God’s ultimate purpose for us is to grow more and more into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29) or a flower or a big tree.

Blessings! Sammy

It's Tanya Rad

What music inspires you?
Authenticity is what really gets me in music. When an artists is being authentic and telling a truth they have discovered.. to me that is what cuts through and connects someone to their audience.. that is what gets me!
Who is your favorite artist? What do you like about them?
Ohh that is a REALLY hard question. I think one of my favorites definitely is Demi Lovato. I love that she has a point of view.. I love that she speaks her mind.. and I love that she is a walking testament to what she believes. I love that she is a huge role model for young women but she acts herself…
If music was removed from the world, how would you feel?
I honestly think I would be depressed if there was no music in the world.. I’d say I spend a good 75% of my day listening to music… and that isn’t even an exaggeration!
Is there a quote or lyric that you live for?
One of my FAVORITE quotes that I remind myself of daily is “If you can dream it, you can do it” by Walt Disney.
Santa Monica
What do you look forward to this summer? Anything we should look out for?
This summer is going to be a great summer for live music… We have Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas hitting the road together! We have Selena Gomez kicking off her tour, Charlie Puth will be touring…. it’s definitely going to be a fun summer to get out there and see some live music! Also there is a girl that’s just starting to break through her name is Zara Larsson ..look out for her! Also a newcomer to the scene .. Sofia Carson … you might know her from the Disney movie “The Descendants” but she’s getting ready to launch her music career and I’m hearing good things :)
Any words of advice or comments you would like to leave?
Be yourself & believe in yourself!

Cleveland Abduction on Lifetime Channel

SAG Award winner Taryn Manning (“Orange Is the New Black,” “Hustle & Flow,” “8 Mile”) stars as Michelle Knight and SAG nominee Raymond Cruz (“Breaking Bad,” “Major Crimes”) portrays Ariel Castro in the Lifetime Original Movie “Cleveland Abduction” produced by Sony Pictures Television. The film explores the true story of Michelle Knight, a 21-year-old single mom whose life was irrevocably changed by a chance encounter with an unsuspected criminal.

On August 22, 2002, Knight was abducted by Castro in Cleveland and held captive in his home for more than 11 years. Finding strength through her belief in God and determined to be reunited with her son, Knight refused to be broken by the twisted Castro. Soon thereafter, he abducted two teenagers, Amanda Berry (Samantha Droke, “Eastwick”) and Gina DeJesus (Katie Sarife, “Supernatural”), and imprisoned them alongside Michelle, who then became a friend and sister figure to her fellow victims.

When Berry became pregnant with Castro’s child, it was Knight who delivered her baby, even performing CPR on the infant girl under the threat of Castro while he told her, “If the baby dies, you die.” Despite enduring more than a decade of brutality, Michelle’s spirit would not be broken, and her unshakable faith in the face of a seemingly hopeless situation was a testament to the human spirit. On May 6, 2013, Michelle was rescued from the home that was her prison for nearly 11 years, and finally given the chance to reclaim her life.

Golden Globe Award nominee Pam Grier (“Jackie Brown”) portrays Carla, a nurse who helped care for Knight in the hospital, and Emmy Award winner Joe Morton (“Scandal”) plays Solano, an FBI agent in charge of the investigation.

“Cleveland Abduction” is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers are Judith Verno (“Masters of Sex,” “Lizzie Borden Took an Ax”) and Frank von Zerneck (“The Elizabeth Smart Story,” “Left to Die”). David Rosemont (“Bonnie & Clyde”) produces. The film is written by Stephen Tolkin (“The Craigslist Killer”) and directed by Alex Kalymnios (“Becoming Human,” “Hollyoaks”).

8 ways to serve others

I spent my night sitting around with a group of friends out on the back porch. Some that I am really close with and some that I am only getting to know and the most magical thing happened. What was supposed to be a short hang out session turned into a 3am conversation based around how much we love one another and the qualities we appreciate in each other. This coated my heart and made me realize how little we actually take the time to tell others how special and loved they are. It’s not until someone passes that we reflect on there qualities and how much love we had for that person. Why not tell them now!?

1. Stop and really appreciate the people around you.
2. Put your phone down and really be in that moment.
3. Be a good listener.
4. Be a mentor to someone.
5. Think less of yourself and DO for others.
6. Send someone a verse or an inspirational quote.
7. Really ask people how they are! Not just for the sake of it. But REALLY how are you?
8. In the words of Judah Smith – Be kind, encouraging and look for lonely people.

Surprisingly enough you may actually benefit from giving support more than those receiving it. By building a positive community around you, you build a wider support network which will increase the well-being for all around you.

– “Reap what you sow”

Create Yourself

Something I have learned in the last year, which doesn’t seem that long – is that rather than finding yourself…through creating yourself and what you want to do with your life you will FIND yourself wherever you need to be.

For some people their calling comes naturally and others it takes them a life time to find what it is that makes them happy. Personally I can honestly say I still don’t know. I love being creative and art runs through my viens, but what portal to express that than to CREATE.

For so long I held myself back questioning projects I would start and then doubt them thinking they were not that good or worthy of being fulfilled – till I realized there is no right or wrong answer in art. Whatever you CREATE is a unique interpretation of what your mind has created out of the vision that you foresee. It’s something that only you see. Everyone else will have there own interpretation of your art, but it’s what you CREATED that will effect, impact, persuade and make someone feel SOMETHING!

X, Sammy
